Candler Park Music Festival Located just down the street from Atlanta's Little Five Points district, the Candler Park Music Festival is almost here!  Every year, thousands of neighbors flock to Candler Park for some incredible music, food trucks and local brewskis.  Here's the scoop on one of Atlanta's most popular music festivals... WHEN June 2 - 3, 2017 4 PM to 11 PM on Friday 12 PM to 11 PM on Saturday (5K starts at 8:30 AM) WHERE Candler Park Located off of McLendon Ave in Atlanta, 30307 5K RUN & STROLL Kick off the festival at 8:30 AM with a charity run through Candler Park, Freedom Park and Little 5 Points, and earn your ice cold (breakfast) Terrapin Beer as your cross the finish line!  This is for a great cause and all proceeds benefit Atlanta ContactPoint, a local nonprofit focused on engaging children and adults through the power of play.  It's just $25 for the 5K Run and $15 to Stroll. Virginia Highland Summerfest One of Intown Atlanta's very best festivals is almost here! Virginia Highland Summerfest is celebrating it's 34th year of art, music, food and fun for the whole family. along the tree-lined streets of Virginia Avenue (between North Highland and Park Drive).  Get the full scoop on the 2017 festival... WHEN June 3 and 4, 2017 10 am to 11 pm on Saturday (artist's market closes at 6:30 pm) 11 am to 6 pm on Sunday WHERE VAHI Summerfest 2017 is runs along the tree-lined streets of Virginia Avenue (between North Highland Avenue and Park Drive) and includes John Howell Park. 5K ROAD RACE & TOT TROT One of Atlanta's favorite road races, the Summerfest 5K takes you through the winding, tree-lined streets of Virginia Highland. The 5K Race starts at 8 AM on Saturday and is now an official AJC Peachtree Road Race qualifier. All participants also receive a 2017 Summerfest t-shirt. At 9:15 AM, the Tot Trot begins on the lawn on John Howell Park and kids under 7 are able to run, walk (or crawl) to the finish line! Each child participating in the Tot Trot receives a t-shirt and ribbon. ** The Virginia Highland 5K Race tends to sell ou, so register asap ($35 per person) at active.com. PICK'N IN GRANT PARK BBQ FESTIVAL After more than 20,000 people attended last year, the Grant Park Conservancy is pleased to announce that the Pick'n in Grant Park BBQ Festival is back again for another great year. This action-packed two-day festival in Historic Grant Park was designed to bring the community together and help raise funds to support the work of the Grant Park Conservancy. Here's the full line up this year: Date >> May 12 & 13, 2017 Location >> Grant Park :: 840 Cherokee Ave SE | 30308 Just one mile outside of Downtown Atlanta. It's the oldest city park and one of the largest, most beautiful green spaces in Atlanta. BBQ Competition Teams of two will keep watch over their pits all day - and overnight - in Grant Park. Teams will be cooking ribs, chicken, and pork. Samples won't be served duing the competition, some of the BBQ teams may serve up some goodies when the competition closes on Saturday afternoon. Not too worry though, as you will be able to find plenty of traditional BBQ from local restaurants and brewskis during the event! One of our favorite Atlanta Festivals and Home Tours is just around the corner... Kirkwood Spring Fling May 20 - 21, 2017 :: Bessie Branham Park in Historic Kirkwood . The Spring Fling in Kirkwood gets bigger and better every year and we are so excited about this year's line up of music and homes that are on the tour! The festival is on Saturday, May 20th in Bessie Branham Park (about 1 - 2 blocks away from Downtown Kirkwood) and the Tour of Homes runs all weekend.  Here's the full line up of events and activities: . .. 5K Road Race The 5K fun run kicks off the festival at 8:30 am on May 20th at the Kirkwood library (Hosea Williams Drive and Kirkwood Road). Pets and strollers are welcome as you run / walk by all the historic homes and tree lined streets of this oh-so-charming Intown neighborhood.  Sign up here for the race. . .. Spring Fling Festival  The 5K race ends at Bessie Branham Park and the Fling begins!  From 10 am to 8 pm, you'll be able to stroll down Kirkwood Rd, Norwood and Ridgeddale Road and view all the local artisans and restaurants.  Live music and the kids area are all happening in the center of the park, so once you're done browsing, you can wander into the park. . . Grant Park Summer Shade Festival 2016 | Atlanta GA

The Grant Park Summer Shade Festival is less than a month away! The Grant Park Summer Shade Festival is just around the corner!  Atlanta residents flock to this popular festival that's nestled in one of Atlanta's largest parks and most beloved historic districts. This year you will find 100+ local artisans, live music, food trucks, lots of activities for the kids, a 5K run and more. Here's the full line up on the 2016 Grant Park Summer Shade Fest, including a few tips for first-timers: The festival kicks off on August 27 with the 5K Run for the Park. This is great for runners, walkers and even stroller-walkers. Fido will have to stay at home this year, as no pets are allowed at the fest. After the race, head over to the artist's market where you will find more than 100 booths and everything ranging from jewelry to handmade soap to abstract art. The market is usually a pretty relaxed atmosphere and doesn't feel too crowded (like some of the other festivals), so it's a great place to shop for some unique items. There will also be live music all day and at the time of this post, they haven't announced who will be playing at the Summer Shade Fest, but it is always an impressive line up. After you've visited the market and the kids zone, grab some food from one of the Food Trucks and plop your blanket down and enjoy the last weekend of the Summer. It's time for the Brookhaven Cherry Blossom Festival! April 2 and 3, 2016 :: Blackburn Park in Brookhaven, GA 30319 The annual Brookhaven Cherry Blossom Festival in Brookhaven's Blackburn Park is almost here! During this 2-day celebration, you will enjoy 140 blossoming cherry trees across 52 acres at the weekend-long festival. At this year's Cherry Blossom Fest, there will be a 5K Run / 1K Walk, pet parade, live music, art & crafts market, Pet World, children's village and of course, all of your Brookhaven friends and neighbors! The Cherry Blossom Festival is free for adults and children. Dogs will be allowed, they just have to be on a non-retractable leash. Brookhaven Festival Details: The festival will be at Blackburn Park, located at 3501 Ashford Dunwoody Rd, Atlanta, GA 30319.
